Waialua - Riparian Buffer
This area of the property needed immediate stream bed support. We designed a native riparian buffer that has low water needs and added an additional theme of medicinal plants. To secure the stream bank, 3 lines of deep rooted vetiver grass were installed in June 2022. The next section was planted in September of 2022 with a mix of native ground covers including pa’u o hi’iaka, pohinhina, and nanea. Other medicinal plants, shrubs, and trees included aloe, hawaiian chili pepper, koʻokoʻolau, kului, lonomea, milo, noni, kukui, and ohai. We will update more photos as this system progresses.
