What is agroforestry?
Agroforestry is an agricultural method that builds its design and implementation method off of the natural cycles and layers of a forest. Agroforestry plants grow together in layers, each serving a specific function in the ecosystem while simultaneously providing a function. Multi-story layers of an agroforestry system include a canopy (large fruit & nut trees), sub-canopy (dwarf fruit trees), shrubs, herbaceous, soil surface (ground cover crops), rhizosphere (root crops), fungi, and vines.
